The freedom of truly letting go

“The reward of the evil is the evil thereof, but whosoever forgives and makes amends, his reward is upon Allah.” (al-Shura 42:40)

When others harm us, it’s better to forgive and reconcile affairs  so that we find favour with God.  Note, there is a distinction to striving in His path and against those whom He is displeased with. As Muslims we are commanded to love for His sake and hate for His sake. We should never join ranks with rebellious servants of God, even if they be amongst our own families who may have fallen prey to the whisperings of shaytaan.

“And if Allah touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can keepback His favour; He brings it to whom He pleases of His servants; And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”- Qur’an, surah Yunus; 10:107

To become free from hurt and injury is to realize that God is the one in ultimate control, He allows whatever He wills to happen. The freedom from such worldly attachments is the real understanding that whatever (and whoever in our life) we have does not really belong to us. God is the ultimate provider, He increases and decreases as He sees fit. Indeed, His is the wisdom. His assistance is all that is required for none can truly help us but Him and no help will there be for us if we fall into His wrath.

May God give us the ability to forgive for His sake and not for ourselves and may God give us the strength to turn away from the rebellious servants. Ameen.
